Last time I had a windfall like that I decided to travel and it was well worth it. Now that can get really expensive depending on where you want to go, but some trips can be done for the amount you have and still have spending money to boot. Lets just say that a great European vacation is more than your budget.
Personally, I would book a trip on Amtrak to Seattle on their Empire Builder, with a roomette (top one is best). Like a room, but a bit smaller. You get a bed, electric plug for your laptop or other electronic toys, coffee served in the room, a good view. A shower is just down the hall. The porter turns down and makes up the bed for you when you are ready. All meals included (they have a real chef on the train). Chicago is where the Empire Builder starts from and it goes straight through to Seattle.
The trip is really beautiful. When you get to Seattle, you can sightsee or just turn around and ride the train back home. The train travel would be less than a grand for one from Chicago round trip, leaving you with plenty of cash to just go out and buy something that makes you feel good; clothes, iPod, etc. Of course you could always bring a friend along on the trip too.
If you do the train, book well in advance because the price goes up as it gets booked. If you don’t like the train, there is always a cruise. Anyway, whatever you do, just have fun. Everyone deserves that once in a while.

Go on a trip, there are cheap flights to europe at this time. Paris or London would be amazing.
